Everyday hygiene
Keep the GIGA 10 clean between maintenance programmes.
JURA’s automatic programmes handle the deeper internal jobs, but the water tank, tray, grounds container and accessible outlets still need regular hands-on care.
Refresh the water
Remove the tank to refill it with fresh water rather than topping it up indefinitely.
Empty the drip tray and grounds container
Empty and rinse them regularly. JURA advises emptying the grounds container while the machine is switched on so its counter resets correctly.
Wipe accessible surfaces
Keep coffee residue away from the outlets, tray area and exterior using a soft damp cloth.
Let the machine complete its rinses
Do not interrupt normal automatic rinse or maintenance phases while the machine is running.
Coffee-oil cleaning
Run the integrated cleaning programme when prompted.
JURA machines use an internal tablet-cleaning programme. This is not an espresso-machine backflush and the brew unit is not treated as a user-removable brew group.

Add the cleaning tablet only at the point requested by the machine programme; never put a cleaning tablet into the water tank.
Allow the full programme to finish
Keep the drip tray and grounds container available for any emptying prompts and let the programme run to completion.
Return to normal use only when complete
Complete all machine prompts before preparing another drink.

Install the prepared replacement
Fit the cartridge securely in the water tank using the holder or extension supplied for the model.
Let the machine detect or confirm it
Where automatic filter detection is fitted, allow the machine to register the new cartridge; older models may require manual confirmation.
Complete the filter rinse
Follow the machine prompts until the filter-rinse process has completed.
Replace when the machine asks
Use the machine filter-capacity alert as the primary replacement signal and do not ignore a time-based limit stated for an older cartridge generation.
Mineral scale care
Descale only through the GIGA 10 maintenance programme.
Scale removal is separate from the coffee-cleaning programme. Filter use can also change when the machine asks for descaling, so the model prompt takes priority over a generic calendar.
Confirm descaling is actually due
If an activated CLARIS filter is being used, the machine may manage scale differently. Follow the exact model prompt and filter status.
Remove and deactivate the filter when required
JURA instructs users to remove and deactivate a CLARIS cartridge before descaling when the machine is operating without the protected filter programme.
Prepare the descaling agent exactly as specified
Use the dose and solution volume required by the JURA programme for your machine generation.
Start the model-specific descale programme
Use the maintenance menu or controls on your exact model; do not substitute a sequence from another JURA.
Let every stage complete
Do not interrupt the process or refill the tank earlier than the machine requests.
Complete the fresh-water rinse
Rinse the tank, refill with fresh water when prompted and let the programme finish before returning to coffee.
