Smart+, Blue+, Blue and White are not one universal cartridge. Start with the exact machine generation, then let water hardness and the machine prompt determine replacement timing.

CLARIS generations
Do not treat every JURA filter as the same part.
JURA’s current UK maintenance range still includes several CLARIS families. The safest route is always machine → compatible cartridge, not cartridge appearance → guess.
CLARIS Blue+ / Blue
Blue+ and the earlier Blue cartridge remain part of JURA’s UK maintenance range for compatible machines. Do not substitute them for Smart+ by appearance alone.
CLARIS White
White remains listed by JURA for older compatible machines. If your machine was supplied with White, verify the exact replacement path before changing filter family.

Water hardness changes capacity
Harder water uses filter capacity faster.
JURA publishes the same current capacity curve for CLARIS Smart+ and Blue+: up to 65 litres at 1–5 °dH, falling to up to 40 litres at 26–30 °dH.
These are JURA’s published maximum capacities for the named current cartridges. Your machine prompt remains the practical replacement signal.

Replacing a CLARIS cartridge
Use the machine’s filter programme, not a generic timer reset.
The physical cartridge is only part of the job. The machine also needs to recognise or confirm the replacement so its filter status remains accurate.
Confirm the cartridge
Check the exact JURA model and generation before opening the replacement filter.
Remove the used filter
Take the water tank out and remove the old cartridge using the holder or extension fitted to your machine.
Fit the replacement securely
Install the correct CLARIS cartridge without forcing the tank connection or extension.
Refill with fresh water
Return the tank to the machine with fresh water and make sure it is seated fully.
Complete filter recognition
Follow the machine prompt or maintenance menu until the new filter is detected or confirmed.
Let the rinse finish
Complete the machine’s filter-rinse stage before returning to normal coffee preparation.

The important checks before you replace one.
How long does a JURA CLARIS filter last?
There is no single litre figure for every water condition. For current CLARIS Smart+ and Blue+, JURA publishes capacity from up to 65 litres in very soft water down to up to 40 litres at 26–30 °dH. Use the machine replacement prompt as the primary cue.
Are CLARIS Smart+ and Blue+ interchangeable?
Do not assume so. JURA supports several cartridge families and compatibility depends on the exact machine and generation. Check the machine support page or the cartridge compatibility list before ordering.
Does a CLARIS filter mean I never need to descale?
Use the machine’s own filter status and descaling prompt. A correctly activated JURA filter changes how the machine manages scale, so a generic calendar interval should not override the machine programme.
Why does water hardness matter to filter life?
JURA’s published capacity falls as water hardness rises. Harder water therefore uses more of the cartridge’s scale-management capacity per litre.
Should I reset anything after fitting a new filter?
Follow the exact machine flow. Current machines can detect or confirm a filter through their maintenance system, while older machines may use a different setup sequence.
