De'Longhi Rivelia FAQs

How often should I descale my De'Longhi Rivelia?

Your descaling frequency depends on your local water hardness and how often you use your machine. If you use a water filter, you'll usually need to descale less often. Check your local water hardness using our Water Hardness Checker for a personalised recommendation.

How often should I replace a De'Longhi water filter?

Replace the water filter approximately every 2-3 months, or after filtering around 50 litres of water, whichever comes first. Regular filter replacement improves coffee flavour and helps reduce limescale build-up inside your machine.

How do I clean the LatteCrema milk system

To keep your milk drinks tasting their best, clean the LatteCream milk system after every use.

  • Turn the milk froth dial to CLEAN immediately after making milk drinks
  • Rinse the milk container, lid and milk spout regularly under warm water
  • Disassemble the milk container weekly and wash all removable parts according to the De'Longhi instructions.
  • Allow every component to dry completely before reassembly.

Regular cleaning prevents milk residue form building up, improves milk frothing performance and helps maintain hygiene.

Need help? Follow our complete De'Longhi LatteCrema Cleaning Guide for step-by-step instructions.

Does the De'Longhi Rivelia have a removable brew group?

Yes. One of the advantages of the De'Longhi Magnifica Evo is its removeable brew group. Remove it regularly, rinse it under warm water (without detergent) and allow it to dry completely before reinstalling.

How do I clean coffee oils from my De'Longhi Rivelia?

Coffee oils gradually build up inside the brewing system and can affect flavour. Use coffee cleaning tablets as recommended to remove coffee oils and residue that normal rinsing cannot eliminate.

Why is my De'Longhi Rivelia making weak coffee?

Weak coffee can be caused by coffee oil build-up, an overdue descaling cycle, incorrect grinder settings, worn coffee beans or a blocked brewing system. Follow our troubleshooting guides to identify the cause.

What does the descaling light mean?

The descaling light indicates it's time to remove limescale from your machine. Complete a full descaling cycle as soon as possible to maintain performance and protect internal components.

Which water filter fits the Rivelia?

The De'Longhi DLSC002 water filter (also known as the De'Longhi Water Softener filter).

Replacing the filter approximately every 2 months, or as recommended by your machine, helps reduce limescale build-up, improve water quality and maintain coffee flavour. If you live in a hard water area, you may need to descale more frequently even when using a filter.

Need a replacement? Explore our De'Longhi Water Filter Guide to learn how to replace the filter and choose the correct replacement for your machine.

Can I use vinegar to descale my De'Longhi Rivelia?

No. Vinegar is not recommended because it can leave unpleasant odours, may not remove limescale effectively and could damage seals over time. Always use a descaler specifically designed for coffee machines.

How can I keep my De'Longhi Rivelia working like new?

Follow a regular maintenance routine:

  • Empty and clean the drip tray and grounds container.
  • Rinse the brew group weekly.
  • Replace the water filter every 2 - 3 months.
  • Descale when prompted
  • Use coffee cleaning tablets to remove coffee oils.
