Steam wand
Purge and wipe the wand before milk dries.
Water filter
Replace the fitted Sage filter on schedule or sooner where appropriate.
Steam tip & shower screen
Check accessible parts for dried residue and blocked holes.
Clean & descale cycle
Use the Bambino-specific clean/descale programme and complete the fresh-water rinse.

Everyday coffee-path care
Keep the Bambino group head and portafilter clean.
Routine rinsing removes loose coffee residue without confusing it with the machine’s clean/descale programme.
Purge the group head
Run a short water purge after brewing to clear loose coffee residue.
Rinse basket and portafilter
Remove spent coffee and rinse the basket and portafilter with fresh water.
Wipe the group area
Wipe accessible coffee residue away with a clean damp cloth once the machine is safe to handle.
Keep the shower screen clear
Check the visible screen area regularly and follow Sage guidance if deeper cleaning is needed.
Mineral scale care
Run the Bambino clean & descale cycle when indicated.
Use the standard Bambino control sequence rather than a Bambino Plus cleaning-tablet sequence.
Empty the drip tray
Empty and refit the drip tray before starting the cycle.
Remove the water filter
Take the fitted water filter out before adding descaling solution.
Prepare the tank
Add coffee-machine descaler and water to the DESCALE level specified for the machine.
Place a 2-litre container below
Position a large collection container beneath the group head and steam wand.
Start the clean & descale cycle
Press and hold 2 CUP and STEAM together for 5 seconds to start the Bambino programme.
Refill for the rinse
When the solution stage finishes, rinse the tank and refill it to MAX with fresh water.
Start the fresh-water rinse
Press 2 CUP to continue the rinse and allow the programme to return to ready mode.
Restore filtration
Rinse the removable parts and refit or replace the water filter before brewing again.
The standard Bambino and Bambino Plus use different maintenance sequences. Follow the controls for the exact machine in front of you.
Water filtration
Replace the Bambino water filter.
The Bambino uses a Sage filter holder; keep the replacement date visible so filtration does not get forgotten.
Remove the used filter
Lift the used filter from the tank or holder without forcing the connection.
Prepare the replacement
Prime the replacement filter according to its instructions before fitting it.
Refit securely
Install the prepared filter and refill the tank with fresh water.
Track the next change
Record the installation date or use the holder reminder so the next replacement is not missed.
After milk use
Keep the Bambino steam wand clear.
Milk residue hardens quickly, so clean the wand immediately after steaming.
Purge the wand
Give the wand a short purge after steaming.
Wipe while warm
Use a clean damp cloth to remove milk residue from the outside.
Purge again
Clear the steam tip after wiping.
Clear a restricted tip
Use the supplied cleaning tool on user-serviceable steam-tip holes if flow becomes restricted.
