Regular cleaning, descaling and AquaClean filter replacement help maintain flavour, temperature stability and machine performance. This guide covers the recommended maintenance schedule and essential care tasks for the Philips 2200.

How to Clean the Philips 2200 Brew Group
The removeable brew group should be cleaned regularly to prevent coffee grounds and residue from accumulating inside the machine.

Don't ignore the brew group.
The removable brew group is one of the biggest advantages of the Philips 2200, but it also requires regular cleaning to prevent coffee oil build-up and maintain brewing performance.
1. Switch off the machine
Switch the Philips 2200 off and allow it to complete its shutdown cycle
STEP 2: Remove the water tank
Carefully remove the water tank so that you can access the service door.
3. Remove the brew group
Open the service door, press the PUSH button and carefully pull the brew group from the machine.
4. Rinse thoroughly
Rinse the brew group under lukewarm running water, paying particularly attention to the filter screen and areas where coffee grounds collect.
5. Allow it to dry
Leave the brew group to air dry naturally before reinstalling it.
6. Reinstall the brew group
Slide the brew group back into position until it clicks securely into place, then close the service door.
Tip: If the brew group will not come out, don't force it. Switch the machine on and off normally to allow the mechanism to return to its resting position before trying again.
Lubricating the brew group
To maintain the machines performance, it is recommended to lubricate the brew group every 2 months, to ensure the moving parts continue to move smoothly.

step 2. remove the brew group
Open the service door, press the PUSH button and carefully pull the brew group from the machine.
STEP 3. APPLY the grease to the piston
- Apply a thin layer of grease on the piston (grey part)
step 4. apply the grease to the shaft
Apply a thin layer of grease around the shaft in the bottom of the brew group.
Step 5 - Apply a thin layer of grease to the side rails
Apply a thin layer of grease to the rails on both sides before reinserting the brew group.
Philips AquaClean Filter Replacement
The AquaClean filter helps reduce limescale entering your Philips 2200 and can significantly extend the interval between descaling cycle.
1. Remove the old filter
Remove the water tank and pull out the existing AquaClean filter.
2. Prepare the new filter
Prepare the replacement by immersing upside down in cold water
3. Install the filter
Push the new filter firmly into the connection inside the water tank and refill the tank with fresh water before reinserting the water tank,
4. Place a bowl on the drip tray
Remove the LatteGo if attached and place a bowl under the hot water spout / milk frother
5. Activate the new filter
Press the AquaClean button for 3 seconds. Once the light begins to pulse, press the start / stop button to start the activation.
4. Activation complete
Hot water will be dispensed from the hot water spout / milk frother.
Once the process is complete the Aquaclean light will change to blue

Descale your Philips 2200
Calcium and limescale naturally build up inside your machine over time. Regular descaling helps maintain brewing temperature, water flow and espresso flavour.
Recommended: Every 2 - 3 months, or sooner if you have hard water.
Before you begin

- Fresh Water
- A jug to collect water
How to descale the Philips 2200
Even when using AquaClean, your Philips 2200 may eventually require descaling. Always run the descaling programme when prompted by the machine.
1. Remove the water Tank
Remove the water tank from the Philips 2200
2. Prepare the machine
Empty the water tank and remove the water filter
3. Add the descaler
Prepare a suitable coffee machine descaling solution according to the instructions and add it to the water tank with the required amount of water.
4. Fill the water tank
Add the descaling solution to the water tank and place a container beneath the coffee and hot water outlets
5. Start the descaling programme
Start the machine's descaling programme by pressing the Calc/Clean button for 3 seconds, followed by the start / stop button when illuminated.
6. Descaling cycle
The descaling cycle last approximately 30 minutes and consists of descaling and rinsing cycle. During the descaling cycle, the Calc/Clean light flashes to show the descaling is in process
7. Refill the water tank
Once the descaling solution has flushed through the machine. Refill the tank to the Calc / Clean indicator. Once the tank is replaced, press the stop / start button again to complete the rinse cycle.
8. Completion of the cycle
Once the machine stops dispensing water, the descaling procedure is finshed. When the lights in the drink icons light up continuously, the machine is ready to use.
9. Install new aquaclean filter
Once the descaling procedure is complete the AquaClean light will flash to remind you to install a new AquaClean water filter.
6. Enjoy better coffee
Your Philips 2300 is now descaled and ready to brew. Regular descaling helps maintain brewing temperature, water flow and espresso flavour.

Cleaning Coffee Oils from the Philips 2200
Coffee beans naturally leave oils and residue behind as coffee passes through the machine. Over time, these deposits can affect the flavour of freshly brewed coffee.
Use a suitable coffee-oil cleaning tablets according to the cleaning procedure specified for your Philips 2200.
Always follow the machine or manufacturer's instructions for where and how the tablet should be used.
Do not place a coffee cleaning tablet in the water tank as a substitute for descaler.
Cleaning tablets remove coffee oils, whilst descaler removes mineral deposits.

How to Clean the Brew Group
1. INSERT TABLET
Insert the tablet into the pre-ground coffee compartment and place a cup under the coffee spout. Ensure the water tank is filled with fresh water.
2. Tap the coffee icon
Tap the coffee icon
3. Press the aroma strength.
Press the aroma strength for 3 seconds to select the pre-ground coffee function.
4. Start the brewing cycle - then unplug
Press the stop / start button to start the brewing cycle. When half a cup of water has been brewed, unplug the machine.
5. wait 15 minutes
After 15 minutes, insert the plug back into the socket and switch on the machine to complete the brewing cycle.
6. Clean the brew group
Remove and clean the brew group (see Brew group cleaning section) and rinse thoroughly under the tap. Once dry, reinsert.
7. Completing the cycle
Place a cup under the coffee and spout and tap the coffee icon. Press the aroma strength icon for 3 seconds to select the pre-ground function. Do not add any coffee. Press the start / stop button to start the process. Repeat this twice.
